New York is an expensive city. But did you know that there are tons of free activities, too? 

Opting for a free activity gives you and your date the opportunity to discover the hidden treasures of NYC and enjoy meaningful moments together without the added financial stress. Here are some of the best free things to do in New York as a couple.

19. Look for the Milky Way At Fort Tryon Park

While it’s a bit difficult to see stars in NYC due to the light pollution of the city, there are a few places where you might have a shot. Fort Tryon Park in Washington Heights is one of those places. 

On a clear night, take the A train to Upper Manhattan and get off at the 190th stop. Then, make your way to the upper floor of the station to Fort Washington Ave. From here, you’ll be on the outskirts of the park and can enjoy a romantic moonlit stroll to the Cloisters Lawn near the Met Cloisters. 

Snuggle up with your partner in a comfy blanket, break out your telescope if you have one, and try to find Mars or Jupiter twinkling up amongst the stars if you can.

Even if the light pollution from the city stops you from being able to spot too many starry speckles, at least you’ll be left with a romantic evening in a beautiful park overlooking the edge of the Hudson River.
