It\u2019s not surprising. After all, studies show that people today are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthline.com\/health-news\/people-more-stressed-today-than-1990s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">more stressed<\/a> than they were 30 years ago. Not to mention the circumstances of the last few years have stressed out the entire world on a global level. Add that to the stresses of everyday life and it\u2019s a miracle we\u2019re all still getting out of bed in the morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">While I do believe these be stressful times that we\u2019re living in, I also think that our generation is doing a better job of learning how to handle stress. In general, things like meditation, therapy, and overall mental health care is practiced more today than probably ever in recent history. Because the practice involves tapping with your fingers on certain parts of your body, it is also known as \u201ctapping,\u201d \u201cEFT tapping,\u201d or simply, \u201cEFT.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Tapping is a technique used to relieve stress in the body and is based on the combined principles of ancient Chinese acupressure and modern psychology. It\u2019s a self-administered therapy that connects the mind to the body and uses this connection to reduce stress, fears, limiting beliefs, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How does EFT work?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">To practice EFT, you use the tips of your fingers to tap on certain pressure points on your body called meridian points. In the philosophy of acupressure, the meridian is a pathway in the body in which energy flows, like a highway. Meridian points are certain areas along this highway that help improve the flow of energy. Acupuncture stimulates these areas with needles, but with EFT, you can stimulate these points with light pressure from your fingertips. No needles required!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Tapping has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetappingsolution.com\/blog\/eft-tapping-lowers-the-stress-hormone-cortisol-a-replicated-study\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">scientifically proven<\/a> to lower cortisol (a stress hormone) in the body. As well as stimulating the meridian points, tapping also stimulates the central nervous system and sends signals to the brain that tell it to release helpful, stress-reducing hormones instead of stress.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">As you tap, you say a script describing whatever you are trying to release from the body\u2014 i.e., stress, <a href=\"https:\/\/adventuringdreamers.com\/staging1\/lower-your-anxiety-5-easy-hacks-to-use-in-the-moment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">anxiety<\/a>, fear, pain, etc. Addressing the \u201cnegative\u201d aspect of what you\u2019re feeling helps the mind to let it go. It\u2019s also commonly used to help people overcome fears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">It can ease pain<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">You can use EFT tapping to help ease pain. I\u2019ve personally used it to help ease migraines, and, when I had COVID-19, I used it to help me breathe easier. I\u2019m gonna be straight with you, I honestly didn\u2019t know if it would work for that, but it totally helped!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">It\u2019s great for personal development<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">EFT tapping can also be used in personal development. You can use it to help release and heal from the past as well as to help you <a href=\"https:\/\/adventuringdreamers.com\/staging1\/the-complete-guide-to-limiting-beliefs-and-how-to-conquer-them\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">let go of limiting beliefs<\/a> that are holding you back from your future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">It\u2019s a manifestation tool<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Because your beliefs play such a major role in <a href=\"https:\/\/adventuringdreamers.com\/staging1\/beginners-guide-to-manifestation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">manifestation<\/a>, EFT is a great manifestation ritual to adopt because it will help you let go of what is holding you back from the things you\u2019re working to manifest into your life. Rate how you feel on a scale of 1-10 and write it down.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Writing it down is important because EFT works so well that you might forget how you felt before and trick your brain into thinking you weren\u2019t feeling anything to begin with. By writing down a number, not only are you validating your emotions, but you are also creating something to measure against after you finish a round of tapping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The stages<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Each tapping round will have three rounds.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">First, you will set your intention. This is where you say why you\u2019re tapping and why you\u2019re going to let it go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Next, you will acknowledge the feelings you have. I\u2019ve heard people wonder why we address these seemingly \u201cnegative\u201d feelings, but by addressing the feelings you acknowledge them and are then able to release them. By holding them in, you give those \u201cbad\u201d feelings power.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Finally, you will end on a positive note. Once you\u2019ve released the pain, you can let in the love.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The karate chop point<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">You begin by tapping the tips of two to four fingers of one hand on the edge of the other hand. The edge of your hand is known as the karate chop point because it is the part you would hit with if you were to throw a karate chop at something.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">As you tap this hand, you\u2019ll say your intention for this EFT tapping practice and repeat it three times.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The other meridian points<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Once you\u2019ve set your intention for this session, you will move your tapping fingers to the top of the head to begin the next stage of the round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">There is no set rule of how many times to tap of each pressure point. Tap however many times feels good to you for each one. You will be saying a script along with tapping, so what I normally do is tap on each point for a complete thought, then move on to the next point. For example, tap on one point and say, \u201cEven though I feel this way\u2026\u201d move on to the next point, \u201cI still deeply and completely love and accept myself.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The following is the list of meridian points and the order in which I tap them:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Top of Head&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">This is on the top of your skull, right in the center crown of your head.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Third Eye&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">This point is right above the bridge of your nose, in between your eyebrows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Side of Eye&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">On the bone where your eyebrow ends, directly along the outside of the eye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Under Eye<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">At the top of the cheekbone, directly under either eye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Under Nose&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Just above your lip and right under your nose, on top of the little groove that connects the nose and lips.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Chin Point&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Tap right in the crease between your lower lip and where your chin juts out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Collarbone Point&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">About an inch under the top of the collarbone and an inch or two from the center of the chest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Under Arm&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Also known as the monkey point, this is just under the armpit, against your upper ribs. If you\u2019ve ever worn a bra, this is where the bra strap is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Scripting<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">As you tap, you will say a script that details exactly what is bothering you that you want to take care of during this practice.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">You can find plenty of scripts online through Youtube, apps, and other blogs. Whatever you are going through that you want to tap about, simply Google, \u201cEFT Tapping for (fill in the blank)\u201d and something will come up. Over time, you\u2019ll be able to write your own scripts and even come up with them on the spot as you tap. As an example, I\u2019ve written a script below to use for stress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">You\u2019ll say the first part of the script as you\u2019re tapping the karate chop point. This is your intention setting. Then, you\u2019ll address the feelings as you rotate through the other meridian points. Once you\u2019ve gone through all the points, you\u2019ve completed the second stage and can move on to bringing in the positive vibes as you tap through each point again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tapping for stress<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">Stage 1: Set your intention while tapping on the Karate Chop Point<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>Even though I am feeling stressed, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>Even though I am feeling stressed, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>Even though I am feeling stressed, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">Stage 2: Address the feelings. Begin tapping on the top of the head and start rotating through the rest of the points with each line.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>I feel stressed.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>I feel overwhelmed.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>I feel like there is so much to do and so little time to do it.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>How am I supposed to do all of this?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>I feel so much pressure.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>I\u2019m not sure if I can handle it.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>This stress is fogging my mind.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>I wish I could find clarity.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">Stage 3: Neutralize. Tap on the head again and rotate through the other points.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>Even though I feel these things, I still deeply and completely love and accept myself.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>It doesn\u2019t do me any good to worry about the future.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>I know that everything is going to work out for the greatest good.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>I choose to clear my mind of all this stress.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>I choose to let this stress go and release it from my body.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>I choose to relax and allow myself to take a deep breath.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>I choose to trust myself. I know that I am smart and responsible.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>I choose to feel calm and confident and I let this stress go.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reassess how you\u2019re feeling<em>&nbsp;<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Now that you\u2019ve completed a full round, assess how you\u2019re feeling again. Rate how you\u2019re feeling on a scale of 1-10. Did you improve? Do you feel better? Are you where you want to be? If not, don\u2019t worry. Sometimes it takes a couple of rounds.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">If you started your practice feeling stressed to a level 8 and now you\u2019re feeling more like a 6, maybe you want to tap again until you get to a level 3 or lower. It is perfectly fine to tap as many rounds as you need to get to the level that you want to be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/adventuringdreamers.aweb.page\/p\/f3645482-2890-4f84-a817-975df0d66afd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"512\" src=\"https:\/\/adventuringdreamers.com\/staging1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Adventuring-Dreamers-Email-Opt-In--1024x512.png\" alt=\"Life's Too Short Not To Travel. Brad Yates was my unofficial tapping instructor when I first started. The guy has a YouTube video for everything you could think of tapping related. He\u2019s a tapping extraordinar. I\u2019m in no way affiliated with him, but I totally recommend you watch a few of his videos to test out tapping. The guy seriously knows what he\u2019s doing when it comes to EFT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<center>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JiD72cZ5mcU\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe>\n<\/center>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How often should you tap?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">So now that you know how to tap, you\u2019re probably wondering how often you should do it. There\u2019s no set rule. Tapping is simply a tool available for you to use whenever you need it. I break out my tapping exercises a couple of times a week, whenever I\u2019m feeling stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed, or when I have a headache. I use it whenever one of those pesky limiting beliefs pops into my head. I also make my husband do it whenever he\u2019s feeling any of those things, too.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">My suggestion is to try it out, see how you like it, and if you love it, use it for as many things as you desire.
